- Description:
- This is a relatively well-preserved copy of a section of West IV depicting two men on horses moving to the viewer's left. Fig. 7 looks straight ahead, bends both arms to hold the reins of his horse, and wears a short chiton under an anatomical cuirass. His horse points its snout towards the ground and has a short, mannered mane. Fig. 8 is bearded, also looks straight ahead, holds reins in his left hand, which is bent towards his lap, and raises his right arm up to just below shoulder level behind his horse's head. He wears an alopeke, an exomis, a chlamys that billows behind him, and boots. His horse rears up as it gallops.
