- Description:
- This is a cast of the inscribed, relief-decorated funerary stele of husband and wife Pyrrhias and Thettale. The original is housed in Athens at the National Archaeological Museum. The stele, topped by a pediment that is now mostly missing, contains a centrally located, recessed rectangular panel with a blocky relief decoration. Within the panel, a wife and husband are depicted at banquet. At the viewer's left of the panel, the wife sits on a backless bench facing right, her feet resting on a low stool. She is fully draped and holds her cloak out with her left hand. At the viewer's right side of the panel, the woman's husband reclines facing his wife and holding a vessel in his right hand, which rests on the couch. He is bearded and draped from the waist down. In the foreground is a low table with animal legs that holds the feast. Above the recessed relief is an inscription, IG II² 12562, which reads: Πυρρίας. Θε[τ]ταλὴ Πυρρίου γυνή. Pyrrias. Thettale, wife of Pyrrias.
