- Description:
- This is a well-preserved cast of West IX, a weathered and somewhat damaged original, showing two riders, each wearing a short chiton and chlamys, and their horses moving towards the viewer's left. Fig. 16 looks straight ahead with his severely damaged (in the original) head and holds his horses reins in bent arms. His muscular horse also looks ahead while lifting both legs on its right side. Fig. 17 wears a broad-brimmed petasos and bows his head. He, too, bends his arms to hold reins. His horse points its snout groundward and lifts both front legs to gallop.
