- Description:
- This is a cast of a marble bust of Dionysos in Rome at the Capitoline Museums. Dionysos is beardless and youthful in this representation. His long, curly hair is parted in the middle and banded by a fillet at forehead-level. Ringlets fall to his shoulders. His features are classicizing, including thickly lidded, almond-shaped eyes, a long, straight nose, and slightly parted lips. He looks down with a calm expression. In the original, the tip of the nose, the lower lip, and one of the ear lobes have been restored. The curls at the shoulders and the bust below the neck are also modern. The cast has sustained some minor damage.
