- Al-Mahawil, Iraq. Haynes in his journal: "Interior of Khan at Mahawil. 15 hours from Baghdad: 3 from Hille. 2nd Katirgee and mules standing in center between two great platforms on which people can worship as there is a kind of pulpit. Good sleeping quarters in hot weather. Exterior much like rooms. Inside is stable with similar rooms on one side. Over main entrance is [scriptural?] guest chamber where Dr. Ward & Daniel sleep."
