Surveyed by Mr. H. A. Peiris in May 1959. "A village in Gandeke korale, Upper Dumbara, in the Mimura Arachichi-wasam. Hills.--Rawana-ella, Udawannimanekanda. Population in 1881, 69 (32 males, 37 females); in 1891, 71 (34 males, 37 females). In 1878 were registered 71 acres of paddy land, of which 49 paid [Rupees] 107.05 and above 18 acres sold by the Crown and exempt from tax." (Lawrie, 1896:131).
