- Description:
- Assemblage consists of satirical medals and medallions issued to deride William Jennings Bryan's plan for silver-based coinage for the U.S. by approximating (or exaggerating) the bulk of a coin necessary to contain $1.00 worth of silver (Fischer 1988: 160-162). The pieces by Gorham Manufacturing Company appear to estimate the size of silver-based coins accurately, while the larger pieces are exaggerations.
