- Description:
- Assemblage contains two advertising cards, two pendants, and a 20th century halftone reproduction newspaper clipping commemorating the marriage of U.S. President Grover Cleveland and Frances Folsom. One advertising card was manufactured by Donaldson Brothers of New York to advertise the Merrick Thread Co. The second is an advertisement for the Phil Best Brewing Co. of Milwaukee, Wisconsin
the maker's name is illegible. The pendants contain unusual SEE DOT ODER SIDE obverses with a picture of an overweight winged man. Fischer (1988: 130) notes that images of Frances Folsom Cleveland were used extensively during the 1888 Presidential campaign. - Cite As:
