Lincoln, Abraham, 1809-1865 - Measurement:
- 20.32 x 30.48 (Mount) (centimeters)
- Description:
- Assemblage consists of medallions, medals, badges, a photograph, and a cut-paper item issued in association with the death of U.S. President Abraham Lincoln. The lot contains 19th century metalwork by W.H. Key of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and F.B. Smith and Lewis Joy of New York. The large medallion by Morgan is likely to be a 20th century piece. Several of the 19th century medals appear to have re-used obverse images from 1864 campaign items. The assemblage also contains one ferrotype portrait badge, one albumen print portrait badge, and an albumen print photograph of a lithograph showing a meeting of Lincoln and George Washington in heaven.
