- Item donor Susan H. Douglas's records indicate that a celluloid button with a portrait of William McKinley (now missing) was once attached to the small bright red top ribbon. Manufacturer's label on the back of ribbon reads THE WHITEHEAD & HOAG CO., NEWARK, N.J. . Donor dates the ribbon to the 1896 Presidential campaign. Susan Douglas displayed this ribbon with 1896 McKinley ribbon 2214.RB0204.
