This textile appears to refer to the 1896 Presidential campaign, and especially the influential anti-Populist editorial What's the Matter with Kansas? by William Allen White, which appeared in the Emporia Gazette on August 15, 1896. The same cockfighting motif was used for other McKinley textiles. This textile appears to have been distributed by the Topeka Daily Capital. Item appears to have been perforated for suspension using a pin. Reference: Fischer and Sullivan 1985: Page 295, Ribbon WBM-206.
