- Description:
- Gold-painted standing cast iron door stop containing an equestrian portrait of Theodore Roosevelt dressed in Spanish-American war rough rider uniform. Molded letters on reverse read PAT / APLD (i.e., patent applied for). Item donor Susan H. Douglas dates door stop to the 1900 Presidential campaign, although it may also date to the 1904 campaign. Item 2214.BB0214 is identical save that it has a circular opening below the horse's front legs to allow insertion of a clock.
